Topics of Discussion
June 25: Willemina Zwart - Friendship and the Christian Life
After God created the heavens and the earth he declared them to be good. But there was one thing that was not good, and this was the fact that Adam was alone. Therefore, God created Eve to be his companion and wife. But beyond simply teaching us of the importance of marriage and family, could God also be using this as the first example of how we are to live in community? For we believe that our God is three-in-one and one-in-three: one God, three persons.
So, God himself exists in community. When Jesus began his ministry, he gathered 12 disciples to join him in his walk of life and had an even greater entourage of followers. What might all of this suggest about friendship and community in our own lives as followers of Christ? As we emerge from two years of isolation, while living in times where loneliness is its own pandemic, please join us as we reflect on the good and the hardships of enduring friendship and life together.
